Overview
Long-length artificial insemination sheaths for cattle, supplied on a continuous roll inside a dispenser box. Each sheath is 21″ (approximately 533mm) long — built for deep-horn AI placement where you need extra reach past the cervix. Pull what you need, tear at the perforation, load the gun, and go. Made from clear LDPE so you can see the straw seat through the sheath wall.
Key Features
- 21″ long sheath — suited to deep-horn AI technique and bigger Holstein/Friesian cows where standard sheaths run short
- Continuous roll on a dispenser box — one-handed pull, tear at the perforation, no fiddling with bagged singles in the cold
- Clear LDPE — non-toxic, soft, flexible, lets you sight the straw seat and check for kinks before insertion
- Smooth wall — reduces drag and stress on the cow during placement
- Universal fit — fits standard 0.5cc AI guns (IMV, Cassou and equivalents); confirm gun model before bulk ordering
- Box-style storage — keeps the roll clean in a ute or cart and dispenses one sheath at a time
Built for cattle AI work
These are the long-format sheaths AI techs reach for when a 18″ sheath isn’t getting them where they need to be — bigger-framed cows, recumbent placement, or any time the operator wants the extra working length to seat the straw deep into the uterine horn. The 21″ length is standard for deep-horn AI training programs and for techs doing high volumes of beef and dairy work where every successful conception counts.
The dispenser box format earns its keep in the field. Instead of fishing single sheaths out of a bag with cold or gloved hands, you pull the leading sheath through the slot, tear at the perforation, and the next one is already presented. Less faffing, less contamination, faster turnaround between cows. Keep the box in a clean tote or on a shelf in the AI ute and the roll stays free of straw, dust and yard muck.
Made from clear low-density polyethylene — soft enough to be gentle on tissue, transparent enough to let you check that the straw is seated correctly before you commit. LDPE is the industry-standard material for AI/ET sanitary sheaths because it’s non-toxic, flexible at low temperatures, and inert against semen extender. Single-use only — never reuse a sheath between cows.

FAQ
What’s the difference between 18″ and 21″ AI sheaths?
Length. 18″ is the standard for most cattle AI work and suits the majority of cows. 21″ sheaths give you extra reach for deep-horn placement, larger-framed dairy cows, or operators trained in techniques that seat the straw further into the uterine horn. If you’re using deep-horn AI or working a herd that runs to bigger cows, 21″ is the right call.
Are these compatible with my AI gun?
They fit standard 0.5cc cattle AI guns — IMV, Cassou-style and most generic equivalents. They are not designed for 0.25cc guns or for sheep/goat AI. If you’re using a less common gun model, check the sheath inner diameter against your gun’s shaft before ordering a bulk quantity.
How are they packed?
On a continuous perforated roll inside a small dispenser box. You pull the leading sheath out through the slot in the box, tear at the perforation, and load the gun. The next sheath is automatically presented. Box format keeps the roll clean and dispenses one at a time, which is what you want when you’re working through a yard of cows.
Can sheaths be reused?
No. AI sheaths are strictly single-use. Reusing a sheath between cows risks cross-contamination, infection transmission, and reduced conception rates. Use one sheath per insemination, dispose of it, and load a fresh sheath for the next cow.
How should I store them?
Cool, dry, and out of direct sunlight. UV degrades LDPE over time. The box format helps but doesn’t replace good storage — keep them in a cupboard, drawer, or AI kit, not on the dashboard of the ute.
