BENEFITS / DESCRIPTION:

The Gold Hoof It Intermediate Disc is the high-visibility option in our 7-blade carbide disc range. If you run multiple discs across multiple grinders, or if you share tools with workers, the bold gold finish makes this disc easy to identify at a glance. The mechanical design is identical to our Black, Silver, and Rose Gold variants — 7 carbide blades, replaceable insert system, 100mm angle grinder fit.

The Intermediate disc is built for the farmer or part-time trimmer who has moved past the Beginner stage. The 7-blade configuration cuts faster than the entry-level disc but stays controllable for non-professional users — it is the right choice if you are trimming your own herd two or three times a year, or running a small contract operation. For full-time pros doing 100+ cows per day, the Pro 8-blade Disc is the next step up.

Like the rest of the Hoof It range, this disc ships from Mount Compass on the Fleurieu Peninsula. We design the discs ourselves and use them on our own dairy herd — the colour options exist because we got tired of mixing up identical-looking discs in our own toolkit.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Is the gold finish a premium upgrade or just a colour option?

It is a colour option. All four colour variants (Black, Silver, Gold, Rose Gold) sell at the same price point and have identical mechanical performance. The gold is anodised aluminium, not gold plating.

Why would I choose the gold over the other colours?

High visibility. If you keep multiple discs in a single toolbox, or run different discs for different cattle classes (heifers vs cows, for example), the gold stands out at a glance. Practical, not flashy.

How long do the blade inserts last on this disc?

For a typical farmer trimming 100–150 cows per year, expect 18–24 months from one set of inserts. Heavy-use professional contractors replace inserts more often — every 6–12 months depending on cow numbers and hoof condition.

Can I use this disc on softer hooves like sheep?

No — the carbide blade design is tuned for adult cattle horn, which is significantly harder than sheep or goat hoof material. Using it on softer animals would over-cut and risk injury. Use a dedicated small-ruminant tool instead.

What is the warranty on the Hoof It disc range?

Hoof It discs carry a manufacturing defect warranty. Wear-and-tear on blade inserts is not covered (they are consumables). For specifics, contact us through hoofit.com.au or message Bj directly.
